New ultrasound technique could replace surgery for diagnosing common endometriosis
NCT ID NCT05523284
First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests a new ultrasound method called SPG to diagnose superficial endometriosis, the most common form of the disease, without needing surgery. Researchers will use a thin tube to fill the pelvic cavity with fluid, making tiny lesions visible on ultrasound, and then collect the fluid to look for biomarkers. The goal is to see if this quick, non-invasive test can match the accuracy of the current surgical gold standard. The study involves 50 women aged 18 or older with suspected superficial endometriosis.
