Faster bug hunt: new device aims to speed up diagnosis for dangerous diabetic foot infections
NCT ID NCT07391995
Summary
This study is testing a new, faster diagnostic tool called MinION for identifying the bacteria and fungi in serious bone infections of the foot in people with diabetes. It will compare the results from this new tool to the standard, slower lab culture methods. The goal is to see if the faster results could help doctors prescribe the right antibiotics more quickly for these dangerous infections.
