Emergency room trial aims to stop PTSD before it starts

NCT ID NCT06943404

Summary

This study is testing whether a quick-dissolve film called BXCL501, given in the emergency room after a car accident, can reduce immediate stress reactions and prevent long-term PTSD symptoms. Researchers will enroll 100 adults who come to the ER within 24 hours of a car crash and give them either the active medication or a placebo. Participants will receive the first dose in the ER plus a 2-week supply to take home, then complete symptom assessments over several weeks to see if the treatment helps.
