New imaging agent could spot hidden cancers
NCT ID NCT07420036
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new radioactive imaging agent called 68Ga-SFB6-ZN01, which is designed to attach to a protein found on many cancer cells. 98 adults with confirmed or suspected cancer will receive a single injection of the agent and then have a PET/CT scan. The goal is to see if the scan can accurately detect and stage tumors, and to check for any side effects. No treatment is given; this is purely a diagnostic study.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
68Ga-SFB6-ZN01 (a radioactive imaging agent injected before a PET/CT scan)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate way to detect and stage cancers using PET/CT scans, helping doctors make better treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is a very early (Phase 1) study with only 98 participants, so the imaging agent may not work as hoped or may cause unexpected side effects. It is designed to test safety and accuracy, not to treat cancer.
