Hospital trial tests Pain-Free start to opioid addiction treatment

NCT ID NCT05118204

Summary

This study tested a new, gentler method for starting a medication called buprenorphine to treat opioid addiction and chronic pain. It compared starting with very small doses (without stopping other opioids first) against the standard method that requires patients to go through withdrawal. The goal was to see if the gentler method helped more people start and stay on treatment while reducing pain and illicit drug use.
