New contact lens aims to simplify vision for astigmatism and presbyopia
NCT ID NCT06377488
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a new daily disposable contact lens designed for people with astigmatism (blurry vision from an irregularly shaped cornea) and presbyopia (age-related difficulty seeing up close). 176 adults aged 40-70 wore the lens for one week. Researchers measured how well they could see at different distances and how comfortable the lens was. The goal was to see if this single lens could correct both vision problems effectively.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
daily disposable silicone hydrogel multifocal toric contact lens
What this could lead to
If successful, this lens could offer a more comfortable and convenient option for people who need both astigmatism and reading correction in one lens.
What could go wrong
This was a small, completed trial focused on vision performance, not a cure or treatment for any eye disease. Results may not apply to all lens wearers.
