New brain scan aims to solve radiation treatment mystery

NCT ID NCT05559853

Summary

This study is developing a new type of MRI scan to help doctors tell the difference between brain tumors that are growing because cancer is getting worse and tumors that appear larger due to swelling from radiation treatment. The research involves healthy volunteers and patients with brain metastases who are scheduled for a precise radiation therapy called stereotactic radiosurgery. The goal is to create a better imaging tool that could help guide treatment decisions by showing what's really happening inside the tumor.
