NCT ID NCT05183048

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase study tests whether a special tracer called 89Zr panitumumab, used with PET/MRI scans, can show head and neck tumors more clearly than the standard FDG tracer. Fourteen newly diagnosed patients scheduled for surgery will receive both scans. The results are for research only and will not change their treatment plan.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
[89Zr]Panitumumab Tracer
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate imaging method for head and neck cancers, helping surgeons plan better.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study (14 people) focused only on imaging, not treatment. The new tracer may not prove better than current methods.
