Heart attack diagnosis revolution? new study challenges 50-Year-Old standard

NCT ID NCT06570759

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach to diagnosing heart attacks that looks for blocked arteries (occlusion) rather than relying on the traditional ST-elevation pattern on an ECG. Researchers will compare this new method to the standard one in 6000 adults with suspected heart attacks to see if it better predicts who needs urgent artery-opening treatment and reduces future heart problems or death.
