Stroke device tested to save heart attack patients from 'Clot Shower' damage

NCT ID NCT05307965

Summary

This study tested a new device to remove blood clots during heart attack treatment. When doctors open blocked arteries with stents, clots can break apart and travel downstream, causing additional heart damage. Researchers compared a clot-trapping device (already used for strokes) against standard suction methods in 81 heart attack patients, hoping to better protect heart muscle.
