New hope for hodgkin lymphoma: drug combo aims to boost transplant success
NCT ID NCT05180097
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether combining two drugs, pembrolizumab and brentuximab vedotin, can better shrink or eliminate Hodgkin lymphoma compared to standard chemotherapy (GDP) before a stem cell transplant. About 84 adults with relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma will participate. The goal is to see if the new combo leads to higher complete response rates and better long-term outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- pembrolizumab and brentuximab vedotin
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a more effective way to shrink or eliminate Hodgkin lymphoma before a stem cell transplant, potentially improving long-term outcomes.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 84 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drugs can cause serious side effects, and it's unknown if they will work better than standard treatment.
