New implant aims to curb bladder leaks with just 30 minutes of daily stimulation
NCT ID NCT07247136
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a small implanted device that stimulates a nerve in the lower back to help control sudden, urgent urination. Thirty adults who have not been helped by standard medications will use the device for 30 minutes each day. Researchers will check if it reduces leaking episodes by at least half and monitor for any side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Neuspera Implantable Sacral Neuromodulation System (a device that stimulates the sacral nerve)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, non-drug option for people with urinary urgency incontinence who haven't found relief from other treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study with only 30 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The device also requires a surgical implant, which carries risks like infection or device-related side effects.
