Mind over pain: can patients train their brains to ease chemotherapy side effects?

NCT ID NCT01278225

Summary

This study is testing whether a non-invasive brain training technique called neurofeedback can help reduce pain caused by chemotherapy nerve damage. 80 patients who have had chemotherapy and experience lasting nerve pain will be randomly assigned to either receive the brain training sessions or be placed on a waitlist. Researchers will measure changes in pain levels and quality of life to see if learning to modify brainwave patterns can help manage this difficult side effect.
