First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This small pilot study tests whether adding EEG biofeedback (brain training) to virtual reality therapy can help people with schizophrenia better tolerate and reduce distressing auditory hallucinations. Thirty adults with schizophrenia who hear voices will receive either VR therapy alone or VR combined with neurofeedback. The goal is to see if the combined approach is feasible, acceptable, and more effective at easing symptoms and improving daily life.
