Brain training meets weight lifting: study explores smarter workouts
NCT ID NCT06539650
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at how a single session of strength training with a metronome (paced beats) affects the brain's control of muscles. Thirty healthy men aged 18-40 did exercises under three conditions: self-paced, regular beat, and a more natural, variable beat. Researchers measured brain and spinal cord activity before and after to see if the variable beat led to faster neural adaptations. The goal is to improve rehabilitation for injuries.
