New nerve block could ease Kids' pain after tonsil surgery

NCT ID NCT05208892

Summary

This study tested if a specific nerve block, sometimes given with an extra drug (dexmedetomidine), could better control pain and reduce the need for opioid painkillers in children recovering from tonsil and adenoid removal. Researchers compared 114 children who received the nerve block, the block with the extra drug, or standard care. They tracked pain levels and medication use for two weeks after surgery.
