New pain block may cut opioid use after mastectomy

Summary

This study tests whether a continuous nerve block (erector spinae plane block) with the numbing medicine ropivacaine can reduce pain after mastectomy in 40 women with breast cancer. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive the block or standard pain care. The study will measure pain levels, opioid use, inflammation markers, and recovery quality within the first 24 hours after surgery.
