First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested whether a nerve block used for cleft palate surgery could also reduce pain and opioid use in children having their tonsils and adenoids removed. 114 children aged 6 months to 18 years participated. Researchers added dexmedetomidine to the nerve block to see if it would make pain relief last longer.
