Could zapping a nerve ease heart failure? new trial tests it

NCT ID NCT07403058

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether a catheter-based procedure that zaps a nerve near the spine can safely help people with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Up to 50 patients will be randomly assigned to get the real treatment or a sham procedure, and neither they nor their heart doctor will know which they received. The study focuses on safety and early signs of benefit, not long-term effectiveness.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

catheter-based nerve ablation (Satera Ablation System)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new way to manage heart failure symptoms without drugs or surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small feasibility trial. The procedure may not work better than a sham, and there are risks like pain or blood vessel damage.
