Which Pre-Surgery combo works best for HER2+ breast cancer? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07220135
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing two standard chemotherapy combinations given before surgery for people with HER2-positive early breast cancer. One group gets docetaxel, carboplatin, trastuzumab, and pertuzumab (TCHP); the other gets the same without carboplatin (THP). The main goal is to see which regimen leads to a higher rate of complete tumor disappearance (pathologic complete response). About 100 participants will be enrolled.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Docetaxel, Carboplatin, Trastuzumab, Pertuzumab
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could help doctors choose the most effective pre-surgery drug combination for HER2-positive breast cancer, potentially improving outcomes.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase study (100 participants) comparing already standard treatments, so it may not lead to a new approach. Side effects from chemotherapy can be significant.
