Placental graft trial aims to heal bedsores faster

NCT ID NCT06918548

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a wound covering made from donated human placenta, called NeoThelium FT, helps heal chronic pressure ulcers (bedsores) better than standard care alone. About 148 adults with pressure ulcers on the pelvis or legs will be randomly assigned to receive either the graft plus standard care or standard care only. The main goal is to see if more wounds close completely with the graft.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
NeoThelium FT (a dehydrated wound covering made from donated human placental tissue)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new treatment option to help heal chronic pressure ulcers faster and more completely.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The treatment may not heal wounds better than standard care alone, and there is a risk of infection or rejection of the graft.
