Heart surgery ventilation showdown: which machine breathes better?

NCT ID NCT03217305

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 12 patients recovering from heart surgery who still needed help breathing from a machine. Researchers compared two different ways of giving that help: standard pressure support and a newer method that uses the patient's own breathing signals. They measured how air moved in the lungs, oxygen levels, and other breathing details to see if one method worked better.
