Salt-Sensing strategy could improve heart failure care

NCT ID NCT07558798

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adjusting diuretic (water pill) doses based on the amount of salt in a patient's urine can lead to better outcomes for people hospitalized with acute heart failure and severe fluid buildup. About 270 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or this salt-guided approach. The goal is to see if this method reduces deaths, hospital readmissions, and time spent in the hospital over 90 days.
