Summary

This study tests whether N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), a supplement, can protect the brain in people with progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). About 98 adults with primary or secondary progressive MS will receive either NAC or a placebo for 15 months. Researchers will measure brain shrinkage on MRI scans and check safety and thinking abilities.
