Robotic exosuit boosts walking for spinal injury patients

NCT ID NCT05605912

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a lightweight robotic suit called the Myosuit in 34 people with incomplete spinal cord injury. Participants used the suit during walking exercises and then took it home for six weeks to see if it improved their daily walking. The goal was to measure changes in walking time and speed compared to standard training without the suit.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Myosuit (a lightweight robotic exosuit worn on the legs to assist walking)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a practical, wearable device to improve walking ability and daily mobility for people with spinal cord injury.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 34 participants, and the device may not work for everyone or be practical for long-term home use.
