Personalized playlists fight hospital confusion in brain disease patients
NCT ID NCT06063161
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether music therapy could prevent delirium (sudden confusion) in hospitalized patients with Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia. Thirty patients were randomly assigned to receive either personalized music therapy sessions, generic music playlists, or standard hospital care. Researchers measured whether music interventions reduced confusion episodes and the need for sedating medications or restraints during hospitalization.
