Music as medicine: new study tests tunes for sickle cell relief

NCT ID NCT06853158

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether music therapy is a practical way to help teens and adults (ages 14+) with sickle cell disease feel better. Ninety people will be split into three groups: in-person music therapy, a mix of in-person and virtual music therapy, or health education. The main goal is to see if the study itself runs smoothly, not to prove the therapy works yet.
