Sound therapy soothes anxiety in young adults, study finds

NCT ID NCT05442086

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether listening to calm music combined with special sound beats (theta frequency) can reduce anxiety. 92 young adults with mild anxiety listened to either the music-beat combo or plain noise for about 25 minutes. Researchers measured brain waves, heart rate, stress hormones, and self-reported anxiety before and after. The goal was to see if the music-beat treatment leads to greater relaxation than noise alone.
