New cocktail aims to Deep-Freeze myeloma
NCT ID NCT04268498
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests whether adding daratumumab to a three-drug regimen (carfilzomib, lenalidomide, dexamethasone) works better than the three drugs alone for people newly diagnosed with multiple myeloma. About 310 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the treatments. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to less detectable cancer after eight cycles of therapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Daratumumab, carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a more effective initial treatment for multiple myeloma, potentially leading to longer remission and better disease control.
- What could go wrong
- This is a Phase 2 trial, so results are still early. The combination may cause more side effects, and it's not yet proven to be better than current standard therapy.
