First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two physical therapy treatments for patellofemoral pain syndrome, a common cause of knee pain. Forty-five participants will be randomly assigned to receive either Mulligan mobilization with movement, phonophoresis with chitosan gel, or standard exercises for 4 weeks. The goal is to see which treatment best improves neuromuscular control and reduces pain.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
chitosan gel
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point to a more effective physical therapy approach for managing chronic knee pain and improving function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 45 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are non-invasive but may not work for all patients.
