First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study follows 50 obese patients (BMI over 32) aged 16-60 who are having weight-loss surgery. Researchers use MRI scans and blood tests before surgery and at 1, 3, and 6 months after to measure fat in the pancreas and check how well the pancreas is working. The goal is to see if losing weight reduces pancreatic fat and improves insulin production, which could help manage or prevent type 2 diabetes.
