MRI spots hidden breast cancers in women with nipple discharge

NCT ID NCT02819362

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether an MRI can accurately rule out breast cancer in women who have abnormal nipple discharge but normal mammogram and ultrasound results. 70 women with single-pore, non-milky, non-green discharge were given an MRI. The goal was to see how often a normal MRI meant no cancer was present. This could help avoid unnecessary surgeries and provide peace of mind.
