New drug cocktail takes on advanced liver cancer
NCT ID NCT07479485
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-phase trial tests a new drug called MRG006A, combined with immunotherapy and targeted therapy, in 160 people with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer) that cannot be treated with surgery. The study aims to check safety, find the right dose, and see if the combination shrinks tumors. It is not yet recruiting.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MRG006A (a drug that targets PD1 and VEGF, combined with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced liver cancer that hasn't responded to other therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Phase I/II) with only 160 participants, so it's too soon to know if it will be safe or effective. Combination therapies also carry a higher risk of side effects.
