Artery size may predict cancer spread in rectal cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07419516
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 690 rectal cancer patients to see if the size of a specific artery (the middle rectal artery) on MRI scans could help predict whether cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. The goal was to create a tool that helps doctors decide if more extensive surgery is needed. The study found that certain imaging features, including artery diameter, were linked to lymph node spread, which could improve surgical planning.
