New drug combo trial aims to wipe out parasitic infection

NCT ID NCT04410406

Summary

This completed Phase 3 trial compared different drug combinations to treat lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic disease that can cause severe swelling. Researchers tested whether adding a newer drug called moxidectin worked better than the standard ivermectin when combined with other medications. The study followed 164 adults in Côte d'Ivoire for up to 3 years to see which treatment cleared the infection most effectively and safely.
