Visual speed feedback boosts leg press gains in seniors?

NCT ID NCT06853275

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether showing older adults with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) their movement speed during leg presses can improve muscle activation, motivation, and perceived effort. Sixty participants will visit the lab once a week for three weeks to perform leg press exercises with or without visual speed feedback. The goal is to help physical therapists design better resistance training programs for seniors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

movement velocity biofeedback (visual feedback during leg press exercise)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could help physical therapists use simple visual feedback to make resistance training more effective for older adults with muscle loss.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants. It tests a short-term exercise protocol, not a treatment for sarcopenia itself. Results may not apply to all older adults.
