Mouthwash showdown: new formula takes on standard rinse for healthier gums
NCT ID NCT07088653
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether a new mouthwash (MicroRepair® ABX) works as well as a standard antiseptic rinse (chlorhexidine) for treating gum inflammation caused by plaque. Forty adults with gingivitis received professional teeth cleaning, then used one of the two mouthwashes twice daily for 14 days. Researchers measured gum bleeding, plaque buildup, and a saliva marker of inflammation over 6 months to compare effectiveness and side effects like tooth staining.
