Can vibration supercharge brain training for movement?
NCT ID NCT06845176
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study explores how combining mental movement practice (motor imagery) with tendon vibration affects brain activity. Thirty-three healthy adults will try three different timing combinations of vibration and imagery. Researchers will measure brain responses using magnetic stimulation and EEG to see which method works best. The goal is to improve future rehabilitation for people who have trouble moving.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tendon vibration device and kinesthetic motor imagery
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help design better rehabilitation techniques for people with limited mobility, such as stroke survivors or those with paralysis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy volunteers, so results may not directly apply to patients. The approach may not improve motor imagery effectiveness as hoped.
