Elite Rowers' brain chemistry linked to motivation in new study

NCT ID NCT07235124

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at 24 national-level male rowers to see how their motivation and body chemistry are connected during and after a hard workout. Participants filled out a motivation survey, then did a 6000-meter rowing test. Blood samples were taken before, right after, and one hour after exercise to measure hormones and brain chemicals like testosterone, cortisol, serotonin, and dopamine. The goal was to understand how these factors work together to affect performance and recovery in top athletes.
