Summary

This study tested a health education program called 'Smile With Prophet' in two mosques in Dhaka, Bangladesh. 80 adult men received oral health messages during Friday sermons, plus a booklet and a miswak (chewing stick). The goal was to see if this approach improved their knowledge, brushing habits, and reduced dental plaque. Results were measured after 3 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Smile With Prophet (SWP) behavioral intervention (Friday sermons, educational booklet, miswak)

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could offer a low-cost, culturally tailored way to improve oral hygiene in religious communities.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 participants and a short 3-week follow-up, so results may not apply broadly or last long.
