Could this mouthrinse be the key to beating gum disease?
NCT ID NCT07414173
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This 6-month study tests whether a special antimicrobial mouthrinse can reduce plaque buildup and improve gum health in adults with gingivitis. Participants will brush and rinse twice daily and visit the clinic every 3 months. The goal is to see if the rinse helps control gum inflammation and plaque better than a standard fluoride rinse.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
antimicrobial mouthrinse with fluoride, amine, and zinc lactate
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, effective way to manage gum disease and plaque at home.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study testing a mouthrinse, so results may not apply to everyone. The improvement may be modest and not a cure for gum disease.
