New study tests two dental devices to fix bite problems without surgery

NCT ID NCT06308640

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two dental devices that use small bone screws to move upper molars backward in people with a specific bite problem called Class II malocclusion. Twenty Egyptian participants will receive one of the two devices, and 3D X-rays will measure how well the teeth move. The goal is to see which device works better and causes fewer unwanted tooth movements.

Fast Back Rapid Distalizer and Modified Leaf Spring Self-Activated Expander (dental devices)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could show which device is more effective for correcting bite problems without tooth extraction, improving orthodontic treatment options.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The devices may not work as expected or could cause discomfort.
