First seen May 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested two surgical methods for treating a type of anal fistula (an abnormal tunnel between the anal canal and skin). Forty adults with confirmed transsphincteric anal fistula were randomly assigned to receive either the standard LIFT procedure or a modified version using a lateral approach. The main goal was to see which technique led to faster wound healing, with follow-up over 12 weeks.
