First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested a modified surgical technique for open-angle glaucoma, adding a tiny mattress stitch to the standard non-penetrating deep sclerectomy. Twenty-six adults with glaucoma that was not controlled by eye drops were randomly assigned to receive either the standard or modified surgery. The goal was to see which method better lowers eye pressure and reduces the need for medication or complications over nine months.
