NCT ID NCT06623006
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a text-message based mobile health program can help people with type 2 diabetes in Nepal better manage their condition. 154 adults with type 2 diabetes will be randomly assigned to receive either the text-message program plus standard care, or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if the program leads to better blood sugar control (measured by HbA1c) after 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- text-based mobile health program (behavioral intervention)
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this low-cost text-message program could improve diabetes self-management and blood sugar control in Nepal and similar low-resource settings.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (154 participants) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not be generalizable. The effect on HbA1c may be modest or not statistically significant.
