Text messages and choice could help cancer patients kick smoking habit

Summary

This study is testing whether a personalized support program helps smokers who have cancer quit. About 1,450 participants in Hong Kong will either get brief advice to quit immediately or get to choose their own quit date and receive encouraging text messages for 6 months. The goal is to see if the personalized approach with mobile support leads to more people successfully quitting smoking.
