Can a smartphone app help Moms-to-Be control gestational diabetes?
NCT ID NCT07318740
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a mobile app called SugarMoms, which provides education and counseling, can help pregnant women with gestational diabetes improve their self-management skills and confidence. About 94 women will be split into two groups: one using the app plus standard care, and the other receiving only standard hospital education. Researchers will measure changes in attitudes, behaviors, and self-efficacy over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mobile application-based education and counseling program (SugarMoms app)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could provide an effective, convenient way for pregnant women with gestational diabetes to manage their condition and improve their self-care behaviors.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 94 participants, so results may not apply to all women. The app's effectiveness depends on user engagement and may not outperform standard care.
