First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tested whether a higher-than-normal dose of MK-8527, a once-monthly pill to prevent HIV, affects heart rhythm. 42 healthy adults took the study drug, a placebo, or an active control. The main goal was to measure changes in the QT interval, a key heart rhythm marker. The study is complete and results will help decide if this monthly prevention option is safe for the heart.
