Old antibiotic shows promise for stubborn high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT02133872
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether minocycline, an inexpensive antibiotic, can lower blood pressure in people whose hypertension doesn't respond to standard treatments. 34 adults with resistant high blood pressure took low or high doses of minocycline. The goal was to see if it could calm overactive nerves that drive blood pressure up, offering a new way to manage this condition.
