First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether reducing the number and dose of medications in people 80 and older can improve their health and independence. Researchers will work with primary care providers to review and safely lower doses of common drugs like those for blood pressure or pain. The goal is to see if this approach reduces hospital visits, nursing home admissions, and death. About 1,800 participants living in the community and taking six or more long-term medications will take part.
